To be asked to work on one of the oldest and well known Sheffield legal brands was an honour. The team at Wake Smith were moving to brand new offices in the centre of Sheffield and felt the time was right to refresh their brand and corporate identity.
Wake Smith have over 100 staff, 18 directors and more than 40 legal professionals. They required a modern logo and wider corporate identity that conveyed their high quality approach, provided by highly qualified specialists in virtually every field of law.
It was clear Wake Smith needed to retain something of their past brand to keep the connection with the 200 years of history. We subtly combined their existing colour and typeface with a sharp, clean and professional logo symbol.
This symbol – the ‘W Mark’ was perfect for a number of reasons – it provides a very clear and identifiable symbol for Wake Smith and is more easily recognised.
It also combines the W and the S in one shape. The multi-coloured approach also conveyed the many areas of legal services they are experts in, and provided them an extended colour palette which they could use throughout their marketing.
